It’s a brand new year and every year we try to renovate ourselves. This year also everyone wants to be a little different; maybe get rid of a few bad habits, start up something new, try to keep in touch better with old friends, eat healthy, wakeup early, run every day, take up a new hobby, get in a relationship, settle down, bring a change and the list can go on and on. We always put such pressures on the New Year resolutions, we inevitably fail! It’s such a tragedy, to see all those New Year’s resolutions go to waste.

So like every other normal person I’ve been wanting to lose weight since forever (no, it wasn’t a resolution). There’s a graph of weight loss everyone goes through, everyone loses weight in college and the minute they go back home, mummy ka pyaar happens and the cycle repeats itself. So I was tired and had given up, but I decided to give it a last shot. I joined the gym at home but nothing was really working. I just thought it would work. So, everyone has this weight which scares the bejesus out of them. It worked for me as well. I just believed that my body weight would never cross 65, and when that weighing scale did cross, I was freaking out. I immediately started working on a diet my friend suggested (she had gone through the same phase) and kick started my workout. It’s been 7-8 months since I started this and I’ve never felt better.






Losing weight is not an event in life, it’s a lifestyle in itself. You can’t just decide you’ll lose x kgs in so and so months. You’ve to stick to it and like what you’re doing. If you don’t like the gym, don’t go to the gym; try dancing or zumba or cycling. There’s a million ways to do it. Doing something what you like is the most important thing. There comes a time when you realize whether you want to change your body or you want to be comfortable in it. If you’re not comfortable in it, you’ll immediately work towards a change. Till then, you don’t have to beat yourself up watching VS fashion show or some of the best models, take your time, and breathe, live a little, eat pizza and be happy. And the day you decide to lose weight, bury yourself in motivation quotes (pinterest has some really nice ones) because there’ll be a zillion people complaining about what you’re doing. There’ll always one person who believes in you and you’ve to be believe in yourself. You have to have focus and determination and after a few months when you’re comfortable in your body, you’ll have so many compliments. People will take one look at you and say that you’ve never looked better. When you walk in via that airport terminal and your parents don’t recognize you because you’re now small, that’ll be the moment when you realize that all the pain and effort and hard work you’ve put is fruitful; but don’t get too comfortable at that as well, you still have a long way to go!


You don’t have to start at the beginning of a year, just start somewhere and work your way upwards and this time don’t give up. You know what happens when you fail, let’s see what it is like when you don’t!
